He feels a lot of shame about how he followed ortega around like a little lost duckling, wanting his approval so bad, looking up to him. to try and ignore the parts of himself which know he isn't which know he is nothing more than a somewhat tool, only useful in someone elses hands. He struggles a lot with feeling like he's fake, just this pieced together approximation of a person, that he doesn't matter that nothing he does matter, so he puts on this suit of arrogance this attitude of being the most important person in the room, smarter, more in the know than everyone else.

Tacked to the side of the вЂfridge was a drawing of him and the Southern belle he was trying to forget. It distracted him from all the things he didnвЂ™t want to think about. Ever since Tante Mattie taught him how to cook, heвЂ™d always been able to get loss in the process. Right now, all he wanted to do was get lost in the familiar rhythm of cooking. With a heavy sigh, Remy pushed aside these thoughts.
